Before independence, the
present hospital complex was the administrative building of
Mughuls, Marathas and British regime. From 1568 A.D. This
rules ruled the State at different times from this building.
In post -independence era remained s Governor's House till
1961. |

Under the leadership of Sardar
Vallvbhai Patel, the then Home Minister of India, after the
shifting of Governor's House of the present captial of Orissa
(Bhubaneswar ) , this building was handed over to Indian Red
Cross Society top start a children hospital. |
